Major changes have been made inFortniteChapter 3, Season 3 following the lore-filledCollision event that brought Season 2 to a close. Alongside massive map alterations, the popular battle royale from Epic Games now boasts the Reality Tree, and floating Reality Seeds that can be found around it.

In Reality Falls, a new biome on the west side of the updated map that replacedCamp Cuddle, players come across an enormous purple-and-blue tree. This is the tallest tree in the game, located in a place where players are able to run along the tunnels of the trunk and loot chests at the top. The Reality Tree exists as a consequence of the Collision event, during which players battled against the Imagined Order (IO) alongside The Seven in a war for reality, leading to Reality Seed Pods scattering across the island.

The Reality Tree’s Meaning

The Reality Tree looks similar to Zero Point Bloom from previousFortniteChapters thanks to its waterfall, giant mushrooms, and coloring. Many believe this visual similarity is not a coincidence, especially because the Zero Point acted as a nexus orb where reality was born and used to bridge other realities.

At this point, not much is known about the meaning of the Reality Tree, except that every day it appears to be blooming more. The name and connection to Zero Point suggest this tree may very well culminate into amajor plot point by the end of the seasonalongsideStar Warsvillain Darth Vader, who is rumored to be arriving at the Island soon.

How to Benefit from Fortnite’s Reality Seeds

The Reality Seed Pods that are found around the tree can be opened usingpickaxes or using any of the weapons in one’s inventory. For those uncertain of what to look for, they appear similar to large purple tomatoes with blue stems. Upon breaking, a few sapling seeds will float out - typically two or three - before descending toward the ground. Grabbing them will equip it as an item that can be moved from the inventory to plant, which can be done by throwing the seed at the ground. Only two seeds can be stacked in one’s inventory at a time.

Throughout the duration of the season, a Reality Sapling will grow that can be looted across different games. The more times a sapling is uprooted, the better the lootbecomes. Legendary and mythic weaponry can be grown from the sapling. For those planting the seeds to accomplish an in-game quest, they will just need to plant three to reach their goal. Growing around each sapling are smaller blue mushrooms, which grant 10 shields each after consumption. Players can take these mushrooms from around other people’s Reality Saplings.

The addition of Reality Saplings mean more chances for loot, but it also makes a player’s drop spot better if they know their Sapling will be in a specific location. The saplings actively grow during a match and can sometimes be harvested more than once following the wedding countdown. This timer is displayed next to the color rarity in a statistics screen.

Many players realized their Reality Sapling can be looted by other players, so they placed them further away from Reality Falls to try and keep high-tier loot away from others. A player can get rid of weeds, will producea healthy plant that can drop rarer items. After a seed is planted, the location is automatically marked on the player’s map, so they will be able to find it again. With the recent introduction of the Reality Tree and its seeds, players can expect to see more updates from Epic Games as the season pans out.
