Over the past 10 years, one of Nintendo’s more understated franchises has found new life. Today,Fire Emblemis quickly becoming one of Nintendo’s premier franchises. Given its recent success, it wouldn’t be surprising to hear Nintendo considering ways to increase the number ofFire Emblemreleases going forward. And according to one intriguing rumor, it’s doing just that. If the rumor is to be believed, Nintendo is working on releasing remakes ofFire Emblem: Path of RadianceandFire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.
The rumor comes from Reddit user thanibomb, who has previously shared leaked information regarding theFire Emblemfranchise. Thanibomb responded to speculation within theFire Emblem Heroescommunity that there was a surprising trend ofPath of RadianceandRadiant Dawncontent being added to the game. They said that they believe “something much bigger” is being built towards. They later responded with the eyes emoji to a user speculating about a Tellius remake, Telius being the continent both games are set on and a common name used to refer to the pair.

To summarize, the rumor is that Nintendo is working onremakes ofFire Emblem: Path of RadianceandFire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, perhaps bundled into a single package. This game was potentially planned to launch in 2020 alongside a surge in related microtransaction content inFire Emblem Heroes. Instead, the game was seemingly delayed, one of many games impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
It must be reiterated that this is a rumor, however, and not a leak. While it’s true that thanibomb has leakedFire Embleminformation before, specifically aboutFire Emblem: Three Housesin 2019, they’re also just a bigFire Emblemfan that is regularly active in the community. It’s possible, if not likely, that thanibomb is just speculating about what’s happening next in theFire Emblemfranchise based on content being added to theFire Emblem Heroesmobile game.
With that said, a remake ofFire Emblem: Path of RadianceandFire Emblem: Radiant Dawnis not outside the realm of realistic possibility. BothPath of RadianceandRadiant Dawnare well-regarded within theFire Emblemcommunityand are believed to have been limited due to the tepid popularity of the GameCube platform.
Nintendo has made no announcements regarding thefuture of theFire Emblemfranchisefor the time being. While it’s likely that there is anotherFire Emblemgame in development in Nintendo’s Intelligent Systems division, who’s to say exactly what the project is and when it’ll arrive. Nevertheless,Fire Emblemfans are certain to be attentive to this summer’s Nintendo events for any potential announcements.
