Today has been a fantastic one for fans followingFinal Fantasy 7 Remake. It’s featured one of the biggest news dumps for the game to date. Square Enix dropped awhopping 25 new screenshots with accompanying descriptionsand even mentioned that part 2 ofRemakewas already in the works. Now, on the heels of all of that, players can expect to tackle new boss battles that never made appearances in the original game.
Co-directors Tetsuya Nomura and Yoshinori Kitase stated in the past thatRemakewould be a retelling of the Midgar section of the originalFinal Fantasy 7. They also emphasized that the game was going to have enough content to make it full length, which explains the addition of new content like bosses.

Still, some fans are glad that Nomura actually came out and confirmed it. He speaks on the addition of boss battles in a new blog post from Square Enix, the same one where he mentions that the development team is alreadyworking on part 2 ofFinal Fantasy 7Remake. He figures that when fans imagine a final boss for Midgar, they probably “think of the M.O.T.O.R.,” but that might not be the case. He states, “new bosses will appear” and add even more excitement to the overall story.
Again, the idea of new bosses isn’t that surprising considering Nomura and Kitase mentionedplans to expand upon Midgar’s story. How exactly the development team plans to expand Midgar remains to be seen, however. Followers ofRemakeare still left wondering whether or not most of the inflations made to the game will happen after the original story of Midgar ended, or if most of the changes will puff out everything in between.
With that being said,Final Fantasy 7 Remakecontinues to be something both new and older fans can be excited about. The developers look to be doing everything in their power to create a title that plays on nostalgia while also delivering something new. A prime example of this can be seen in theremaking of the train graveyard. Considering the team behind the originalFinal Fantasy 7is also helming this one, its no wonder so much love, and detail appears to be going into the title.
Final Fantasy 7 Remakewill launch on August 02, 2025 for PlayStation 4.
