Square Enix reveals thatFinal Fantasy 16currently has no plans for DLC and instead, the game is intended to be the full experience at launch. As the launch date forFinal Fantasy 16continues to draw near, Square Enix has finally started letting more and more details come out to give fans a better idea of what they’re in for. Just this week, anew preview event forFinal Fantasy 16showed off the redesigned action combat while also teasing the overarching story and narrative components.

In addition to going hands-on with the game, Square Enix also let out additional details, going as far as to confirm a longstanding rumor within the community. While many people had opinions and theories,Square Enix did officially announce aFinal Fantasy 16demoto arrive prior to the game’s launch. Unfortunately, details regarding when the demo will be available are not yet known though it is said to be a few hours long while focusing on a younger Clive. Now, Square Enix has responded to another community theory, though the answer on this one may not please everyone.

In a recent interview, Final Fantasy 16 director Hiroshi Takai and producer Naoki Yoshida spoke about post launch plans for the game. While Creative Business Unit III, the studio behind the MMOFinal Fantasy XIV, is used to keeping a stream of content coming, Takai and Yoshida are taking a different approach withFinal Fantasy 16. In fact, they confirmed that there are no current plans for any DLC andFinal Fantasy 16is intended to be a one-off game that wraps up Clive’s story.

Going further, Takai and Yoshida admitted that theFinal Fantasy 16world of Valistheais large to keep players invested, but ultimately, they would rather see the feedback from fans first before they decide a potential path forward. While not fully committing to more content after launch, the team at Square Enix would rather wait to see what fans and players think of characters like Clive Rosfield and the world the team has crafted. If there is demand for more, it seems Square Enix will consider it.

We’re asking players to pay the full price for this experience, and so we want an experience that’s going to equal the amount of money that players are going to be paying and we want them to have satisfaction equal to what they paid or even more than that.

Whether or not players see more Final Fantasy 16 content post-launch, the game is shaping up to have plenty of things to do in the main campaign. Players will come across areas that are more open and can be explored which seems to feed in directly to ahistorian side character named Harpocrates. Not only does he allow players to learn more of the world and lore, but notes and environmental clues found in the world can be brought back to Harpocrates for additional rewards.

Final Fantasy 16launches June 22 for PlayStation 5.
