The Crash Landing questline was introduced in the Wastelanders update, which saw CAMP allies come toFallout 76.Since then, lots more allies have been brought into the game. Most allies are known as light allies, and can be placed at aplayer’s CAMPafter they have been purchased or unlocked. However, a couple of allies require the player to complete a questline to unlock them.

The Crash Landing questline allows the player to have the unique ally and U.S.S.A. astronaut, Sofia Daguerre, stationed at their base. This questline offers a unique perspective on life outside nuclear war.

How To Start Crash Landing

When the player enters theMire Region,they will have a prompt pop-up to investigate the emergency signal. This signal is coming from theAbandoned Bunker, which can be found between the Hunter’s Shack and East Ridge Lookout. Usually, there aren’t any enemies outside the bunker, so it’s a fairly safe area.

Head inside the bunker to find the source of the emergency signal. Inside, be sure totake out the Radroachon the wall opposite the door before venturing further into the bunker.

Find The Source Of The Signal

After entering the bunker and heading downstairs, youwill find Commander Daguerre propped up against a fusion generator.She is injured andneeds a Stimpak. After giving her a Stimpak, she will explain that she has recently come back to Earth after spending years in space with the Deep Sleep Mission. Her spaceship crashed nearby, and she managed to drag herself into the bunker for safety. She asks where she is and what has happened to the world.

As it turns out, she doesn’t know about the nuclear war that has obliterated the United States. After getting over the initial shock, she asks for help finding her three other crew members. The first step in doing so is to recover the flight recorder from the downed spaceship.

Find The Flight Recorder

The crash site is located south of the Abandoned Bunker.After reaching the burning wreckage, make your way to the cockpit of the spaceship and extract the flight recorder. This will initiate a download, which takes two minutes. As the download starts, ahoard of Super Mutantsare drawn to the noise. Take out the Super Mutants and wait for the download to finish. Once it is complete, collect the recording from the cockpit.

Bring the flight recorder to Commander Daguerre, and she will explain how the recorder needs to be decrypted in order to access the data. There wasa robot on boardthe spaceship, who wasthe key to decrypting the recorder.She says that if the robot survived the crash, it should have made its way to the nearest military depot.

If your Intelligence is 8 or higher, you’re able to ask whether this robot will be hostile or not. This prompts the Commander to give you an emergency code:Blue Sunset.This should stop the robot from being hostile.

Obtain The Encryption Key

After leaving the bunker, follow the waypoint to findPandora,the spaceship’s robot. Interacting with Pandora, who will warn you not to interfere with the robot’s mission. If you have the emergency code, you can use it to obtain the encryption key. If not, you will have tofight the Assaultronto obtain it.

Return to the Abandoned Bunker, where you will see Commander Daguerre sending out signals from a nearby terminal to try and communicate with anybody listening. Unfortunately, she’s not having any luck. She asks for the encryption key. While handing it over is a possibility,players with a Charisma score higher than 5can push her for ‘a little extra payment’. Either way, the player hands over the encryption key.

To analyze the data, Daguerre needs a working console.The one in the bunker isn’t worth repairing. However, she suggests that it’s possible to rebuild the console somewhere else. The only option here is for the player to offer to let her stay at their CAMP and work from there. Grateful for the offer, she hands over the schematics.

Build The Console At Your CAMP

After the conversation, fast-travel back to your CAMPand build Commander Daguerre’s console. To craft it, open the build menu and scroll to theAllies section, where you will see the U.S.S.A Console.It costs nothing to build.After placing the console at your CAMP, Commander Daguerre will arrive.This will complete Crash Landing.As a reward for completing this quest, you get Commander Sofia Daguerre as a CAMP ally.

Completing Crash Landing also opens up a chain of quests for Commander Daguerre, called The Woman Who Fell To Earth. In this questline, the player helps the Commander retrieve a few items to upgrade her equipment. After that, she will start investigating signals in an attempt to find her fellow astronauts. It’s an interesting series of mini-quests as the player gets to learn more about Commander Daguerre, her crew, and the original mission that took them to space in the first place.
