Like most long-running anime, though,Fairy Taildoes have its fair share of filler episodes, 63 to be precise. From quirky misadventures to deep explorations of a character’s backstory, this anime shows that not all episodes need to be filled with action, and can still be entertaining and worth watching.
10Natsu Eats A Village (Episode 9)
This entry is the first filler episode inFairy Tail. Natsu andHappy are well-knownfor their tremendous appetite, which becomes a key theme throughout the series. While traveling home with hungry bellies, theFairy Tailteam encounters a seemingly-abandoned village and some odd mushrooms. Eating these hilariously causes big toadstools to sprout on the consumer’s head.
While investigating the village further, Erza discovers that not everything is as it seems, as the houses become monsters! Desperate times call for desperate measures. The group decides these monsters will become their next meal, only to find out that they’re completely inedible. One final phrase can be heard at the end of this episode: “We’re still hungry!”

9Natsu Vs. Gray!! (Episode 70)
Tensions between Gray and Natsu finally come to a head in this episode. Through detailed animations,Natsu’s Fire Dragon Slayer powersand Gray’s Ice Maker abilities shine through. Gray betrays his allies for Daphne and intends to capture Natsu to absorb his powers for an artificial dragon.
This episode also has Erza and Lucy tackle some Lizardmen that can mimic their opponents' magic, however, they both manage to outsmart their enemies using their own abilities and quick wit. This episode ends on a cliffhanger, as Natsu is captured by Daphne as a power source for her Dragonoid.

8Welcome Back, Frosch! (Episode 202)
This is a special one-off episode featuringRogue’s companion, Frosch, the green cat with the spotted frog costume. Frosch goes missing while Lector is clothes shopping, but Frosch is determined to make it back to the Sabertooth guild by himself. He bumps into various friends from theFairy Tailseries,including Erza.

Easily distracted and adorable, Frosch journeys back home, getting into mischief along the way. Rogue and other members of the Sabertooth guild cheer Frosch on from the sidelines.
7Treasure Hunt (Episode 268)
This flashback episode is in theFairy TailZero ark and shows Mavis going out to explore oceans. It has some classicFairy Tailmischief as it shows they had a habit of destroying things before they even officially became a guild.
Mavis discovers an underwater temple in the hopes of finding treasure to fund Yuri and Warrod and prove she’s not a burden. They prove that the power of friendship always has the power to save them, and they all return from their deep-sea dive with golden goods to profit from.

6The Terror of Invisible Lucy! (Episode 127)
This episode is one of the first in the ‘Key To The Starry Sky’ filler arc. The episode begins with Natsu and Happy snooping through Lucy’s novel-in-progress about an invisible man. Later while bathing, Lucy uses an expired magical ointment and ironically alsobecomes invisible, with the emphasis to become “clean and clear.”
Loads of hilarious escapades and pranks ensue as Lucy has to sneak through town undetected and - naked - to seek help from her fellow guild mates before her very existence fades away.

5Changeling (Episode 19)
Body-swapping hijinks ensue in this episode as theFairy Tailcrew comes across a strange Magic called Changeling on their Request Board. This magic switches the consciousness of two people into each other’s bodies. Gray, Lucy, Erza, Happy, Natsu, and Loke end up swapping bodies.

They discover that not only have they swapped bodies, but they have also swapped magic as well.Lucy drools icewhile Happy can only equip a swimsuit instead of Erza’s mystical armor. Another downside to this spell is there is a 30-minute time limit; if it isn’t reversed in time, they would be stuck like that forever! It’s Team Shadow Gear and Levy to the rescue, but can they fix everyone in time?
4Wendy’s First Big Job?! (Episode 74)
Fairy Tailis a great anime that spreads the focus to some of its supporting characters and gives them some love. In this episode, Wendy wants to feel important and useful to the guild by doing her first big job alone, much to Carla’s dismay. Despite Wendy’s wish for independence, members ofFairy Taildecide to follow Wendy on her journey to ensure her safety.
This episodeshows off Wendy’s Sky Dragon powers as she blows away a Cursed Sandstorm, and proves her overall strength as a side character.

3The Magic Ball (Episode 125)
Natsu and the group accept a job to catch a Velveno, a criminal suspected to appear at a ball to steal a valuable ring. This episode kickstarts with Lucy teaching Natsu how to ballroom dance - beautiful to watch for NaLu shippers. Erza, aka the Dancing Demon, also attempts to teach Natsu how to dance, and hilariously ends up spinning him like a top.

While at the ball, they discover that Velveno has the power to copy anyone’s magic and abilities as theFairy Tailcrew are ineffective against him! They discover that Velveno is no threat though, as he only wanted to steal the ring to ask for Aceto’s hand in marriage.
2Lightning Man (Episode 225)
Laxus, aLightning Dragon Slayer magic wielder,is specifically requested to help with a dangerous electrical discharge left in a nearby town. The lightning energy becomes more charged the longer Laxus spends in its presence, discovering that a lacrima was amplifying his power on purpose. But why?
Laxus absorbs the electrical energy field to prevent it from blowing up and destroying the town. This episode fully shows why Laxus' is deserving of the title of aFairy TailS-Class Mage with these epic animations.

1413 Days (Episode 220)
Juvia has an unrequited obsession with Gray. She has known him for 413 days and wants to get him something to celebrate this milestone in their relationship – a friend-iversary. In Juvia’s eyes, every day is an anniversary.
Juvia goes on a mini-quest, asking herFairy Tailguildmates about the perfect present to give Gray to celebrate this special day. It turns out that this day coincides with a difficult time in Gray’s life. This episode is full of hilarity while adding to Gray’s backstory and shows how much Juvia truly cares for Gray in her own way.
