Evil Genius 2: World Dominationis a base-builder game that lets players live out their villainous dream, create their very own dastardly lair, and enact a plan for complete world domination. The various territories of the world won’t give up without a fight, and will send agents to foil the player’s nefarious activities.
That’s where traps come in. Players will need to make good use of all the defenses at their disposal to ward off any 007 wannabees. Withso many options to choose frominEvil Genius 2, just which traps are the most effective at keeping the forces of good at bay?

10Giant Fan
Perhaps doubling as an evil air conditioning unit in the summer months, the Giant Fan is more of a utility trap than anything. When activated, it blows the agent in the direction that it’s pointing. It deals no damage (unless it throws its target into a wall), and is best used to move agents around.

In this way, Giant Fans are good at starting a trap combo, pushing agents into more damaging and potentially fatal traps. Combine it with other movement traps, and the player can toss agents around wherever they like.
9Giant Magnet
The big brother version of the fan, the Giant Magnet works essentially the opposite way – it pulls agents towards it and holds them in place. Just like the Fan, it’s best usedin combination with other movement and damage traps to inflict a horrible yet hilarious death, or to throw any intruders straight into the hands of a guard.
Even without a combo, the Giant Magnet deals Vitality and Resolve damage upon impact and by holding the agent in place. However, it’s much more expensive than the fan, with a price tag of $20,000, and agents can sometimes disarm it from far away, so it should be used with caution.

8Slippery Floor
A health and safety code violation everywhere but an evil lair, Slippery Floor does exactly what players would expect: it makes agents fall flat on their rear. This stops them in their tracks and buys some valuable time for the player’s guards to respond to their intrusion.

Slippery Floor has additional uses, however. It makes it easier for agents to be moved by the likes of the Giant Fan, Giant Magnet, and various other movement traps. There’s somethingoddly satisfying watching an agent haplessly slip and slide to their death.
7Laser Disco
Who said supervillains can’t have fun too? Well, perhaps this trap would say so. Its purpose is not to entertain and amusethe player’s many minions, but to lure in unsuspecting agents, forcing them to dance quite literally until they die.
The trap deals 50 vitality damage, but if the agent survives, they’ll gain 50 resolve from their hardcore boogie session. But either way, it serves as a good distraction. The only downside is the price, coming in at a hefty $80,000, so it might be best to go for cheaper traps earlier on in the game.

6Freeze Ray
If players wish toroleplay as Mr. Freeze, they can use this trap to fulfill their fantasy, blasting their opponents into icy submission. Agents caught out by the cold will be frozen in an immobile block of ice, and be unable to move for some time, allowing the player to arrange their ultimate demise.
Agents will also lose 15 skill and 15 resolve, but not any Vitality. As traps go, it isn’t the most damaging, but with a cheap price tag of $5,000, the Freeze Ray can be put to good use in any early-game lair.

5Puppy Of Death
While previously the nemesis of postal workers across the globe, the player can instead turn their canine companions against a slightly more threatening target. The Puppy Of Death’s main use is to distract investigators, lowering their suspicion levels by displaying extreme cuteness.

After luring their marks in, these K-9s live up to their name and explode in a vicious manner, dealing 30 Vitality damage to any unsuspecting agents nearby. These deadly dogs are best placed near entrances to buy time and get some free damage in.
4Flamethrower
Coming across a wall of flamethrowers in an evil lair would be intimidating for anybody. Now try being thrown into them with no escape.
This trap is a solid choice, setting agents on fire and dealing damage over time up to 30 Vitality. It works well with movement traps like the Giant Magnet and Fan, which help to hold the agent in place while they burn alive. Be careful not to pair it with the Freeze Ray, however, as both traps cancel each other out, negating the effects.

3Laser Wall
Try as they might to dodge, weave, and flip their way through this blockade of searing lasers, there’s no chance agents will emerge unscathed. Much like the Flamethrower, this trap deals damage over time depending on how long enemies remain in the area, up to a total of 50 Vitality.
Use in combination with a Magnet or Slippery Floor to hold enemies in place and watch as these pesky agents get vaporized into thin air. With a modest price tag of 20,000, it’s the perfect tool to foil their plans.

2Shark Tank
A staple of spy thrillers, players can now feel the heinous joy of feeding a troublesome spy to their aquatic pet. The device works as a trapdoor which, when stepped on, opens up to reveal a pool of bloodthirsty sharks that are just waiting for their next meal.

These apex predators do a whopping 70 Vitality damage, and prevent agents from progressing any further into the base. Players should be careful, however, as if the trap opens with any minions walking across, they too will suffer the wrath of the shark tank.
1Venus Spy Trap
The king of traps, this deadly houseplant swallows an agent whole and chews them up, dealing an enormous amount of Vitality damage. This is often enough to kill them outright, making this trap one of the most useful and strongest in the game.
That being said, it doesn’t discriminate between friend and foe, and will just as easily devour a hapless minion that is unfortunate enough to cross its path. That means placement of this trap is crucial, and should be positioned in areas where minions don’t visit often. Once again, use movement traps to steer agents into this trap, and cackle as they are consumed along with their hopes of thwartingthe player’s evil plans.
