Endless Dungeonhas one of the darkest intros to one of the most colorful games artistically on the market. Two space adventures get surprised when a giant ship appears out of nowhere. The two characters die horrible deaths, leaving only a lowly janitor to survive. This janitor, Sweeper, meets others who are also trapped in this endless void of chaos and that’s where the game picks up.
The story doesn’t matter much as this is definitely a mechanics first type of experience. And boy howdy doesEndless Dungeonhave a lot of gameplay elements to memorize. Beginners may make a few mistakes, so these tips are here to clear up some misgivings. Also, as a bonus tip, check out the Codex in the Saloon which is a mistake players can often make ina lot of action games.

6Don’t Miss These Saloon Upgrade
Standing Room Only And Chipsmithy
The amount of permanent upgrades available to players from the start can be daunting. One place that may get passed by is called the Saloon, which is literally what the HUB world is called. Upgrades in the Saloon can improve what players can interact with.
For example, buying the Standing Room Only upgrade will allow players to bring a second AI partner into the field. Ifa co-op sessionis not possible for players, this is a must. Also good is the Chipsmithy upgrade which will open up advanced chips in Comrade’s shop. Some of these choices for heroes will truly change how players enjoyEndless Dungeon.

5Chip The Crystal Bot First
Nanocrystalline And Eat Your Carats
Every hero in the game can equip up to three chips, but these slots must be unlocked throughquests like in an RPG. Also, the Crystal Bot can be chipped and that’s what players should focus on before any hero gets an upgrade. The Crystal Bot is the thing players have to guard and if it explodes, that’s game over. It’s a typical element of a tower defense game. Nanocrystalline will increase its health while Eat Your Carats will give players one temporary upgrade to spend at the start of a floor.
Speaking of upgrades, Crystal Bots can be sent to dig at certain locations to get crystals. These crystals are the currency typically used for the aforementioned temporary upgrades and while they can be tempting, they should be avoided. What players may not understand at first is that enemies will not stop spawning if the Crystal Bot is walking around. Going after mining spots without a slot to hide into will put the machine into too vulnerable of a position thus resulting in an early death even with a good team surrounding it.

4How Monster Closets Work
Turret And Ally Placement
There’s something about how enemies spawn that players may not realize. They can only make their way toward players if a route is open. So, if players are exploring and haven’t come across a spawn room yet, then waves will be meaningless. The best defense then is to not put turrets around the Crystal Bot once these bad rooms are unlocked. Instead, keep two allies back at home base to defend the robot while you explore.
Also, place turrets in the monster spawning rooms. Be wary of enemy elemental weaknesses and place turrets in these rooms that will be most effective. For example, bug enemies are weak against fire so a turret like Flamethrower will work wonders. Players also may not realize that turrets can level up if they kill enough enemies likein an RPG. So be sure to check back on turrets after enemy waves to see if they are glowing.

3Your Heroes Have Passive Skills
EX: Sweeper’s Turretmeister
The tutorial will give players a decent rundown of howEndless Dungeonworksas a roguelikecombined with a tower defense game. For example, it will explain that hero characters have two active abilities. The starting hero, Sweepers, has two stun-based moves that act on cooldowns once players use them. What players may not have realized is that heroes also have one passive skill.
To continue with Sweeper, he can make turrets fire faster if he is in the room. His starting partner, on the other hand, Zed, can gain attack power for every kill she makes. Knowing what these passive skills are can change how players squad up. As an overall tip that may take a bit to learn, it’s best to always read character bios from abilities to weapons to actual stats.

2Take Your Time While Exploring
Open Doors One At A Time
This is a good tip to keep in mind with how monster closets work in the game. To reiterate, players should keep two heroes back at base to defend the Crystal Bot. This tip is only applicable to solo players.Co-op players may feelthe need to split up to explore on their own, and thus speed up how fast they can clear a floor. However, that is the worst mistake a team can make.
Opening more doors simultaneously will increase the possibility of creating a monster room. Slow and steady will win the race as they say. Solo players or teams should take their time, explore the map thoroughly, and before exiting, they should go back to resource spawning points. For example, players may want to research a new turret or buy some more medicine for the next floor.

1Getting To Know Your Currencies
How To Produce Food, Industry, and Science Points
The final thing to teach players is to take note of resources. There are three main ones to keep track of on a run: Food, Industry, and Science. Food is primarily used to craft the aforementioned medicine along with temporary character upgrades at stations. Food, unfortunately, doesn’t look like anythinglike in cooking games. These temporary upgrades are kind of a waste and resources instead should be focused on medicine even if a medic like Shroom is on the team.
Science is used for turret research which expands choices and these turrets can also be upgraded. Finally, Industry might be the most important one because it is used to build turrets. Now, opening doors will grant players five of each resource initially, but building plants will increase the resources gathered by five each time. Of the three, Industry is the most important, and thus players should know to craft as many Industry-gathering hubs as possible.
