In the world ofElden Ring,Raya Lucaria Academy used to be an esteemed institute that teaches sorcery before the falling of Queen Rennala. Now, it’s a Legacy Dungeon full of various enemies, traps, important items, and two bosses.
To reach the Raya Lucaria Academy inElden Ring, players need to get theAcademy Glintstone Key, located north of the Temple Quarter Site of Lost Grace in Liurnia of the Lakes. The key can be found on one of the three corpses guarded by Glintstone Dragon Smarage. Keep in mind that although the location contains two bosses; the Red Wolf of Radagon and the Shardbearer Rennala Queen of the Full Moon, it’s still considered an optional area.

Unfortunately, some players may consider skipping the area as completing it is not necessary to beat the game, while forgetting that it’s full of crucial items like powerful weapons, decent Sorceries, and fashionable Armor sets. Additionally, beating the Sharbearer,Rennala Queen of the Full Moongrants Tarnished the ability to change the characters’ appearance or to respec in exchange for one Larval Tear per rebirth. Completing Raya Lucaria Academy 100% is no easy task due to the various hidden paths and numerous enemies lurking around, however, it is not impossible.
10Find Map Near Gate For Key’s Location
Most players have probably reached Raya Lucaria’s gate only to be blocked by a barrier that requires a special key. There are two gates that’ll lead to the Academy, however, one of themhas a special item in front of it. The South Raya Lucaria Gate has a Meeting Place Map that can be looted from a corpse. The paper shows a portion of the Liurnia of the Lakes Map and according to its description, the map shows the location of a Glintstone Key.
By traveling to the TempleQuarter Site of Lost Graceand moving north, Tarnished will encounter a sleeping Glintstone Dragon Smarag who’s guarding three corpses and one of them contains the Academy Glintstone Key.
9Make Sure To Have A Larval Tear For Rebirth
Larval Tears are Key Items given to Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, after defeating her in the Grand Library to achieve rebirth. Using the Great Rune of the Unborn, the Shardbearer can respec all of the Tarnished’s stats in exchange for one Larval Tear per rebirth.

Most Larval Tears can be found inNokron, the Eternal City;andNokstrella, the Eternal City. Unfortunately, Nokron is hard to enter as it can only be reached by defeating Starscourge Radahn,whereas Nokstrella is accessible by completing a few steps in Ranni’s questline. Luckily, players who are unwilling to go through this journey can obtain one Larval Tear early by killing aLesser Runebeardisguised as an Undead Soldier in Limgrave.
8Grab The Carian Knight Set
TheCarian Knight Setis one of the few early gameArmor sets that offer good Negations against Physical and Magic damage. Players can get this useful Armor while exploring the first section of the Raya Lucaria Academy. Afterward, they can equip this decent set to navigate easily through the academy.
The Carian Knight Set is composed of a Helm, Chest Armor, Gauntlets, and Greaves.Unlike Blaidd the Half-Wolf’s Armor set, whose Helm is in a different location than the rest of the pieces, all the parts of the Carian Knight set are found together.
7Collect All Glintstone Crowns
In Raya Lucaria Academy, there exist four Glintstone Crowns that grant special abilities to the wearer, but with a price. These Armor pieces are:
6Advance In Yuria, Hunter Of The Bloody Fingers Quest
The esteemed Academy of Raya Lucaria is surrounded by two great bridges, and both can be used to enter it. If players access the sorcery school by crossing the bridge north of the academy’s main gate, then they have probably encountered a Red Summon Sign.

The Summon Sign belongs to Yuria, Hunter of the Bloody Fingers, who requests the aid of players to come to his world and help him defeatBloody Finger Ravenmount Assassin.This is an important step in the NPC’s quest, so make sure to do it to complete the quest later in the game.
5Don’t Fight The Giant Ball, Ignore It
While exploring Raya Lucaria Academy, it’s highly likely that the Tarnished will face what seems to be an endless number of giant balls rolling down the stairs. Many people have tried to fight it to climb the stairs safely, but this is not an effective method.
The giant ball’s movement is easily predictable as it rolls in a certain, unchanged direction. So after understanding its path, it’s fairly easy for players to collect the bridge’s items while avoiding the giant ball. Of course, if players don’t wish to cross this bridge, there are other ways to reach the area behind it.
4Grab The Azur’s Glintstone Staff
The Azur’s Glintstone Staff is adecentEden Ringweaponthat requires 10 Strength and 52 Intelligence. What makes the Staff so powerful in the early game is that it reduces the casting time of all Sorceries, but consumes more FP. The Azur’s Glintstone Staff can be found in the upper level of the Church of the Cuckoo, and it’s a bit of a complicated process to reach.
From the Debate Parlor wherethe Red Wolf of Radagonwas defeated, go outside and climb the stairs on the left. Ignore the enemies and jump over the balcony on the left to be ambushed by two opponents. After that, players need to find their way on the Academy’s rooftops until they reach the chandeliers above the Church of the Cuckoo. Jump down, proceed east, fight the hunter, and enter the room behind it to collect the Azur’s Glintstone Staff.
3Get The Radagon Icon Talisman
The Radagon Icon is a legendary Talisman that is found in the Raya Lucaria Academy. According to the game description, the Radagon Icon Talisman shortens any spell casting time, whether it’s sorcery or incantations. Even for players who aren’t doing Intelligence or Faith builds, it’s best to grab it, asthey might use it in the second playthrough inElden Ring.
To get the Radagon Icon, the Tarnished must first defeat the Red Wolf of Radagon inElden Ring. From the boss’s Site of Lost Grace (Debate Parlor), head north out of the gate, then take two rights. Jump over the railings and climb the ladder. After that, hop through the broken windows and the chest should be to the right.
2Grab The Second Glinstone Key For Thops’ Quest
Upon defeating Godrick the Grafted in Stormveil Castle, the Tarnished will find themselves near the Lake-Facing Cliffs bonfire. If players travel southwest, the Church of Irith can be seen. Enter it to loot oneElden RingSacred Tear, then speak with Thops to trigger his quest.

The sorcerertalks a bit about Sorceress Sellen and then asks the Tarnishedto bring him a Glintstone Key so that he can return to the academy to resume his studies. The said key can be found on a chandelier in the Church of Cuckoo inside the Raya Lucaria Academy. After giving the key to Thops, he returns to Raya Lucaria. Sadly, this leads to his demise, as players will find him dead near the Schoolhouse Classroom Site of Lost Grace.
1Use The Abductor Virgin To Quickly Reach The Volcano Manor
Players have probably used the wheel elevator in Raya Lucaria Academy to go up. However, if the Tarnished stays on the moving platform and moves with the elevator, they can eventually drop to the lowest section of the academy. At the bottom, there are many useful items, like the Long Tail Cat Talisman, which reduces fall damage.
Other than that, there’s also an Abductor Virgin guarding the area. Getting killed bythis particular enemy transports players to the Volcano Manor near the lava inElden Ring. Players should keep in mind that they have to die while being suffocated in the Virgin’s cage, otherwise they respawn in the academy.
