While the focus is on the price and Deluxe Pack contents, the trailer also shows a lot of gameplay and story cutscenes. It will combine 2D and 3D platforming with action sequences, in a fashion that harkens back togameplay fromNier: Automataby Platinum Games. It is now confirmed thatEl Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatronwill be priced at $39.99 for the standard edition. A PDF artbook will be available for $13.99 and will feature over 90 pages of illustrations. Fans will also be able to purchase the soundtrack for $24.99, which comes with 61 tracks from the game.
The Deluxe Pack ofEl Shaddaiwill be priced at $78.97 and will include both the digital artbook, as well as the soundtrack. Since it only includes these two extras, it doesn’t quitecompare to the special editions of some video games. Both versions of the game will be available at a discounted rate for two weeks after launch. The standard edition can be purchased for $32.39 while the deluxe version will be available for $39.25, a 19% and a massive 45% discount respectively.
WhileEl Shaddaiwill be available to a much bigger audience than its original release, the price does seem to be higher than anticipated, even after considering the discount. This likely won’t deter some fans from purchasing the PC port, but it may stop the game from getting exposed to a large number of new players. The PC port ofPersona 4 Goldenwas available for only $19.99 in comparison. For some, the Deluxe Pack may come off as somewhat generic, and those hoping for some special goodies will likely be left disappointed. That being said, strong word of mouth may offset the relatively higher asking price.
El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatronis now available on PS3 and Xbox 360, and will launch on PC on September 1.
