Nintendo wasn’t associated with mobile games for a long time, despite the lucrative nature of the market that saw massive names like Sony and Microsoft bring IPs across to mobile devices.Nintendoeventually joined the mobile game sphere, and in 2018, it launched its first original mobile game calledDragalia Lost, an action RPG that explores a fantasy setting filled with magic and dragons.
DespiteDragalia Lost’s positive reception and a nomination for “Portable Game of the Year” at the2019 DICE Awards, Nintendo decided to pull the plug on its mobile game and bring it to a close sometime after the final July 2022 update. Closing downDragalia Lostwill mean its long-running plot will come to an end as well with the final phase of Euden’s adventures taking center stage. Dragons And Feudal Family Dynamics
Dragalia Lostcenters of the kingdom of Alberia, where King Alberius and the Six Greatwyrms fought for peace prior to the main events of the game. When the Sacred Shard – a powerful artifact that protects the capital – begins to inexplicably lose power, Euden, Seventh Scion and youngest Prince of Alberia, sets off to find a way to save his people. For any gamer feeling a little lost amid the vast amounts of lore, Nintendo released a handy comic that summarizes the story calledNotte’s Super Rad Plot Synopsis, which can help to bring them up to date.
All members of Alberia’s royal family have a shapeshifting ability where they can form pacts with powerful dragons and utilize their forms. At the start of the game,Euden has yet to make a pact with a dragon, and the early chapters focus on his Dragon Selection Trial. Unbeknownst to Euden, his father becomes possessed by a dark entity known as The Other and becomes a tyrant. He kidnaps Euden’s twin sister Zethia, but it turns out she was The Other’s target all along and King Aurelius sacrifices himself to save his son when a possessed Zethia betrays them all. Aurelius' consciousness also transfers to Zodiark, one of the last Greatwyrms, and forms a pact with the prince. Euden forms pacts with various dragons along his journey, as well as recruits a number of allies to help his cause.
Euden forms New Alberia from his homebase of Halidom to stand against the possessed Zethia. Over the course of the chapters, The Other (also known as the demon Morsayati) uses Zethia in his goal of using the Flow Eternal to destroy all dragons. He is eventually defeated in Chapter 14 and Zethia is freed, and Nedrick, the real Seventh Scion who Euden unknowingly replaced, becomes the primary antagonist. Helater joins Euden and his companions, and Nedrick, Zethia, and Ilia (a goddess and founder of the Ilian Church) search the memories of the Sacred Tree for ways to defeat The Progenitor – the actual villain who has been behind all the game’s events.
Euden and his assorted friends must fight to prevent The Progenitor’s return, but he is eventually unleashed during Chapter 23 and the heroes face a dark future. Just when all seems lost, Prince Emile, the previously narcissistic and antagonistic brother of Euden, appears with an army to rescue the erstwhile adventurers. Euden is determined to face up to The Progenitor/Xenos, but he is convinced by his allies that he is not yet strong enough. He learns of the Dragon Necropolis, a place where he might gain new powers and finally defeat Xenos. Euden travels to a black mana-plagued desert in search of the Necropolis, and learns the Primordial Windwyrm left behind a part of himself to defeat the Progenitor. The scene is now set for a big final showdown with Xenos in thefinal two chapters ofDragalia Lost.
Dragalia Lost: The Final Updates
In a blog post released on July 31, 2025, Nintendo announced thatpart two of chapter 26 ofDragalia Lostwill be released in July and that this will conclude the story of the main campaign. The summon showcase released on March 31 will be the final content update that the game will receive, besides the aspects of the main campaign that will conclude the story. Nintendo has assured fans that event revivals and summons showcases for existing adventurers and dragons will continue to be accessible until service ends at a later date.
