SinceDestiny 1, Bungie has built an extensive lore surrounding the two governing forces in theDestinyuniverse: Light and Darkness. While there is still a lot more to be revealed about these primordial forces, the current situation in the game focuses on the Guardians’ attempts to follow the Witness, an entity of the Darkness, who has been missing after the events ofDestiny 2’sLightfallexpansion. Additionally, the upcoming Season 22 and 23 will reveal more about the final showdown between the Witness and the Guardians inThe Final Shape, as Bungie changed its storytelling approach withLightfall. Now, Bungie has released a teaser showing what the players can expect from the final expansion of the Light and Darkness saga.

In its weeklyDestiny 2blog, Bungie unveiled a teaser which showed a team of Guardians attempting to enter the Traveler through the portal created by its communion to the Veil. At the end ofLightfall, the Witness entered into the Traveler via the portal and has been missing ever since. All the attempts to follow the Witness ended in failure, which is when a long-forgotten ally, Sloane, resurfaced on Titan with new information inDestiny 2’s Season of the Deep. Sloane revealed that Ahsa, a sea creature on Titan, could help them defeat the Witness. After saving Ahsa from Xivu Arath’s grasp, the creature revealed that the Guardians will need the help of Savathun if they are to find and defeat the Witness.

Bungie is also revamping several aspects of the game to ensure that the gameplay is as balanced as possible atThe Final Shape’s launch. To achieve this, it has announced a plethora of PvE and PvP changes forDestiny 2, which will be implemented across Season 22 and 23. Additionally, game director Joe Blackburn recently revealed thatDestiny 2is getting a “PvP Strike Team” to balance Cruciblein the game.

Aside from this, Bungie also revealed its decision torecast Commander Zavala inDestiny 2after the tragic passing of the character’s former voice actor, Lance Reddick. Hollywood veteran Keith David will take up the mantle of Zavala going forward, and Bungie will keep all of Reddick’s lines in the game intact to ensure that his legacy lives on.
