ADestiny 2fan has pointed out a year-old Solar Warlock bug that is still prevalent in the game. It pertains to the Celestial Fire Warlock melee in the game, which seemingly doesn’t work with several weapon and exotic perks since Solar 3.0 launched last year afterDestiny 2: The Witch Queen DLC.
Celestial Fire and Incinerator Snap are the two melee options available for Solar Warlocks, where the former provides a long-range powered melee option and the latter gives players a high-damage close combat option. While mostSolar Warlocks inDestiny 2prefer going for the Incinerator Snap because of its high damage and Ignition capabilities, Celestial Fire seems to be bugged as it doesn’t synergize with several perks and armor mods, which has now become a cause for concern for the players because the bug has existed for nearly a year.

After calling it out two months ago, Reddit user Singapore_DLC_Pack has again pointed this out in a detailed post where they put up a list of weapon and exotic perks and armor mods that don’t work with Celestial Fire. For instance, the most common issue is how players can’t activate the exotic perk for theDestiny 2Warlock exotic gauntlets, Sunbracers, with Celestial Fire, and that it only works with the Incinerator Snap. Aside from that, weapon perks like Swashbuckler, Grave Robber, Golden Tricorn, and Pugilist also fail to activate upon kills with Celestial Fire. Furthermore, armor mods like Impact Induction, Focusing Strike, Heavy-Handed, and Hands-On also don’t activate a second time.
This is frustrating forDestiny 2players because of the amazing potential the Celestial Fire melee has, which is wasted because of it being bugged. Using Solar abilities allows players to apply Scorch to targets, wherein if a player uses a melee attack and a grenade to kill a target after applying Scorch stacks, it will still count as a powered melee kill. This helps activate a lot of perks, where a theory also suggests that the Pugilist perk remains active as long as the target remains Scorched via melee damage. However, this isn’t the case with Celestial Fire, which also fails to give additional super energy if the Scorch stacks applied with it kill the target while using the Hands-On helmet mod.
The Focusing Strike and Impact Induction armor mods also fail to activate a second time after their internal cooldown of seven seconds, which puts players at a disadvantage in endgame activities. That’s not all, as Celestial fire doesn’t seem to cause Ignitions inDestiny 2’s level-capped activities such as Grandmaster Nightfallsand Legendary campaign, even though the math adds up to 105 Scorch stacks, with Fusion Grenade and Amber of Ashes, which is enough to Ignite a target.
Destiny 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
