It doesn’t take long forDestiny 2players to encounter the first bossof the Prophecy dungeon. Fortunately, the Phalanx Echo isn’t too difficult a boss and the mechanics are fairly straightforward. If players were able to figure out the Light and Dark Mote mechanics and dunking them, then they already know the core mechanic of the entire dungeon.
Of course, simply knowing the mechanics of Prophecy is not enough. If players are not properly prepared, the Phalanx Echo can easily wipe them out. This guide will help cover everythingDestiny 2players need to know to beat the first boss of Prophecy.

How to Beat Phalanx Echo
to start the encounter, players must touch the glowing ball (oftenreferred to as Tolandas it looks exactly like the long last member of Eris’s Fireteam). It is recommended to have a good add (additional enemies) clear build along with a heavy weapon that is good for close-range DPS. Lament and Heavy Grenade Launchers are very helpful here. When the boss fight begins, several Taken Knights will spawn along with several packs of Taken Psions. Quickly kill the Psions and then check where the pillars of energy are. There will be two columns of light and two columns of dark energy.
Just like in the opening of Prophecy, players will need to stand in either well-lit areas or in shadow while killing the Taken Knights. This will spawn motes that must be picked up. Upon gathering five motes of one color, players will be able to dunk it into the pillar that matches the color of the motes.
Upon dunking a collection of motes, the arena will shift, and the areas that are well-lit or in shadow will change. Be mindful of this when picking an area to stand and kill Taken Knights.
While gathering motes, players will need to be aware of their surroundings along with where the boss is. Justlike any Taken Phalanx, the Phalanx Echo does the push attack with its shield. If players are caught in this attack, this can lead to all but certain death as they get thrown off of the arena. More Psions will spawn throughout the encounter, so players should be sure to take care of them to avoid getting overwhelmed.
For players trying to solo this encounter, it is important to not stay in one place for long. The boss, Psions, and the Taken Knights will be attempting to flank and kill players if they try to stay behind cover for too long.
Once players have managed to dunk on all four pillars, the Phalanx Echo will lose its shield and the damage phase will begin. The Phalanx Echo does not have much health, so it is quite feasible for a well-geared Fireteam to kill the boss in a single damage phase. That said, players should watch out for Taken Goblins that will spawn during the damage phase. The Taken Goblins will try to shield the boss, and quickly kill them toavoid wasting ammoon the boss while he is immune to damage. If the Phalanx Echo is still alive, continue dunking motes into the pillars to trigger another damage phase until the boss is dead.
