The majority of the campaign ofDestiny 2: The Final Shape, focuses on gathering everyone together while searching for a way to defeat the Witness, a seemingly invincible entity. Yet in the previous missions, a potential weakness has been found in the form of the memory of where the Witness was created.

While Iconaclasm is not the last part of theFinal Shapecampaign, it is the final campaign mission before the Salvation’s Edge raid from a chronological standpoint. This mission consists of four encounters, and here is what you can expect as you begin Iconaclasm.

Reach the Ritual Site

Once the mission begins, follow the waypoint. Deal with the Takenand the Dreadas you go. Your path will lead you through a crop field that looks like it was ripped out of someone’s dream. Shortly after this point, you will come across a rally point and the first encounter.

First Encounter

This first encounter is not particularly difficult. The first thing you will want to watch out for are the Bound enemies with Prismatic shields. Either Transcend or use the nearby energy fields to break these shields and take them out. After you have killed enough enemies, a Tormentor will spawn. Shoot the shoulders and then the chest once it begins to glow. After you’ve beaten the Tormentor, you will have successfully completed the first encounter.

Continue Onward

Proceed through the twisted hallway along with the broken-up area with all the colorful blocks floating. Eventually, you will find yourself in a cave where the Witness tempts you just like it did the others earlier on in the campaign. Along the way, you will get a basic tutorial on using the dark nodes that will give you a 45-second buff. This buff will protect you when you are in an area with “poisoned air”. It will also allow you to get past the orange barrier as well.

Second Encounter

After using the rally point, kill all the enemies that appear. Once it is clear, shoot the splinter that is floating in the air. Two darkness nodes will spawn below it. Get the buff from the nodes and go down the hole. In this chamber, you will find Hive Knights that will spawn symbols when they are killed.

Pay close attention to these symbols. Once you’ve killed both knights, use the portal that appears to go back upstairs. While you are down there, make sure you keep an eye on your buff. If the buff expires, you will start to take damage and you will die if you do not regain it from a darkness node.

After getting back upstairs, look for the circles that have the symbols you saw downstairs. Stand in the two circles, and you will summon Eshkin’tuk, Witness’s Blessed. The boss doesn’t have a shield, so use your heavy or super (or both) to quickly take it out and clear the encounter.

More Tunnels

Next, jump through the hall and continue onward into the next area where the Witness speaks to you again. Follow the path, and you will eventually reach the third encounter, which is similar to the second one only more time-consuming.

Third Encounter

After the giant ogre spawns, you will want to take out the blights on the left and right first. Inside each blight are two Bound enemies with prismatic shields. Since one of them isa Taken Phalanx, and the boss has a nasty attack that pushes you back if you get hit by it, it is best to throw a grenade into the blight, and then run. Using Transcend and then following it up with the special grenade is also an effective strategy as well. What is important is that you keep moving and don’t stay in line of sight of the boss for long.

After both blights are gone, destroy the splinters and a portal will appear. Grab the buff from the darkness node and use the portal. Just like with the second encounter, you will need to find the Hive Knights. The difference this time is that this arena is much larger and more maze-like. To complicate matters, the darkness node will move around after being used. Once again, pay attention to the symbols that appear. After killing both knights, follow the waypoint to reach a portal that will take you back up.

Stand in the circles that match the symbols to make the shield fromthe Vault of Glassappear. Take the shield, wait for the super to charge, and use it to bring down the shield on the ogre boss. A bunch of adds will spawn as well, so make sure to deal with them before the boss. Once the boss reaches 50% health, its shield will go back up. You will have to repeat the whole process above to bring down the shield and kill it.

A Tempting Offer

Leave the arena and continue onward toward the ritual site. You’ll eventually find yourself jumping up the symbol along the wall of the large building. If you find yourself getting stuck and not sure where to go, look up, and you will find spots where you can jump.

Once you enter the room after the sliced-up statue of a warbeast, the Witness will make its pitch. It recognizes your power and potential and offers the opportunity to become one of its disciples. This is simply dialogue, and you do not get to choose either way. Once the dialogue is over, it is time for the final encounter of this mission.

Confront the Witness

Despite having a health bar, you don’t fight the Witness directly in this mission. Instead, you will be fighting a large Subjugator along with adds that spawn throughout the fight. Periodically, the Witness will unleash an attack. Take cover as it can instantly kill you on Legendary difficulty. Once the Subjugator reaches 50% health, it will gain a shield and become invulnerable.

Shoot the darkness node that appears and use it to get into a nearby side room where the relic can be picked up. Use the super to bring down the Subjugator’s shield. Once you do, a field of light will appear in the arena. Quickly run to it and use the shield ability of the relic. On the field of light, this ability does not run out of energy. Keep holding the shield to avoid getting killed by the Witness’s attack. Once it is clear, kill the Subjugator while also watching out for the Witness.

Once the Subjugator is dead, a sword will appear. Pick it up and head to the middle. Use the sword to destroy the splinter and then use the “Embrace the Darkness” prompt. You will then be teleported into a circular room with a bunch of statues. After the Dissenters are done talking, you will be able to destroy one of the statues with a sword. Once the statue is destroyed, you are teleported to the arena.

To get back into the room with the statues, you will have to kill another Subjugator the same way that you killed the first one. The difference this time is that you must also keep the buff from the darkness node up to avoid dying to the poisonous air. When the sword spawns, use it to get into the statue room again and destroy the second statue.

You won’t have to deal with a third Subjugator. Instead, all you have to do is pick up the sword again while your allies hold off the never-ending wave of enemies. Go into the statue room and destroy the third and final statue. At this point, you will then be thrown out of the room by the Witness and end up in a long hallway with only a sliver of health. Pick up the relic, hold the shield button, and keep moving forward along the path. As long as you keep moving, the shield will not run out of energy, and you will be impervious to harm. Keep moving until a cutscene triggers to beat this mission.
