Of these, Sam B is a returning character from the firstDead IslandandRiptide, and he was once a slayer that players were able to pick. Now, he is now a key part of the team that is attempting to bunker down and outlive the outbreak in L.A.
Sam B is an experienced zombie killer that has survived two outbreaks, once inDead Islandand again inDead Island: Riptide. In both games, he was hailed as the best character formowing through hordes of zombies with big melee weapons, but inDead Island 2he plays a much different role. He lets go of his tough persona that saw him outlive many people in the first two games and returns to save his ex-girlfriend, who also happens to be the first person to help the slayers in Hell-A.

Who is Sam B?
Hailing from New Orleans, Sam B is a one-hit-wonder hip-hop artist who achieved worldwide fame following the release of his song “Who Do You Voodoo?” While the song garnered him millions of fans and earned him a lot of money, it was one he made as a joke and as a result did not like very much. However, since it was his most popular song, he was forced to play it everywhere he performed. With no other hits to his name, Sam B was eventually forgotten by most people and began to perform his hit song at various resorts, whichbrought him to the Royal Palm Resort inDead Island.
Sam B’s past helped him succeed in the zombie apocalypse, with his knowledge of fighting and his sheer will to survive seeing him make it out of two outbreaks. He lost his father who died in prison when Sam B was little which caused his mother to begin drinking and doing drugs, so he was raised by his grandmother. He was a fan-favorite character from the first two games, mainly due to his catchy song, personality, and ability to wield blunt weapons, making hisreturn inDead Island 2exciting.
Sam B is the former boyfriend of mega-star Emma Jaunt, who is one of the survivors of the same plane crash thatthe slayers survived at the start ofDead Island 2. He comes to Hell-A to get Emma out or outlive the outbreak in her mansion in Bel-Air and is the reason why the slayers figure out that they are immune. He also mentions the previous two games by stating that he survived something similar twice before, making him the most experienced zombie killer in the game, and so he helps the player at the start.
Sam B and Emma used to date 15 years prior to the events ofDead Island 2before he left for the store and never returned. This could have been around the same time that he left for the Royal Palm Resort, but regardless, he returns with the express purpose of keeping Emma safe as she could be his only ticket out of Hell-A. Sam B plays another vital role at the start ofDead Island 2, showing players how to modify and repair weaponsby using the workbench.
As a returning character, Sam B has a lot of knowledge that he passes on to the slayers, and while they may not always listen to him, he is the reason that they know they are immune. Like many of the other characters, he adds a lot of comedic breaks in the midst of the brutal zombie slaying and is a constant reminder to the player that L.A. is not the first time an outbreak has occurred. InDead Island 2, Sam B almost serves as a mentor to the slayerswhile being one of the few people that Emma Jaunt trusts enough to allow in her mansion.
