Summary

At first glance, it may seem likeDragon’s Dogma 2andSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueshare absolutely nothing in common. One is a single-player open-world fantasy RPG while the other is a live-service action-adventure shooter title thatbrings together some of DC’s greatest villains, so they really could not be more different on paper. That being said, both games also seem to share a ton of similarities with their online mechanics, even if they are not likely inspired by each other.

Dragon’s Dogma 2may be a single-player RPG, but its Pawn system is built around online mechanics that see players share their created Pawns. At the same time,Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leaguefeatures a mechanic known as Social Squad, which lets players play with their friends even when they are offline. While both go about this extremely differently, at their core, they seem to serve the same purpose.

Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Pawn System Explained

When players begin theirDragon’s Dogma 2journey they canfully customize their own unique Pawn. This Pawn will serve as their constant companion during their adventure. Not only are they an ally in combat, but they will also help players find things, provide conversation, and even hold the Arisen’s stuff when asked.

Rather, players will soon discover that Pawns actually serve a far greater purpose. Through Riftstones, they canhire other player’s Pawns to join their party. These Pawns will come with their own knowledge of the world based on how the last player used them, which they will share with the current player during their adventure. This makes them feel almost lifelike, as everything they see during their journeys with others influences how they react to the world they are in. And that can heavily impact the way players experience the world themselves, especially if one of these Pawns comes with the vile Dragonsplague.

WhileSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueis primarily a multiplayer experience, it also lets players recruit bots to help them. Specifically, the Social Squad featurelets them recruit their actual friends even when they are offline. These bots will come with the same looks, talents, and loadouts that the player was using. Depending upon what that player was using, it can significantly affect how the main player approaches the game.

These two features are extremely different, yet they are also remarkably similar. The decisions that players make in their own games can actually impact those who decide to recruit their characters. InDragon’s Dogma 2, that comes in the form of Pawnsassisting players based on what they saw in their creator’s world. InSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the recruited bots will utilize every item and cosmetic given to them by the player they represent.
