A mod lets players roleplay as Lucy fromCyberpunk: EdgerunnersinCyberpunk 2077. When CD Projekt Red’s latest open-world RPG initially launched in 2020, it was panned by both critics and fans for containing many bugs and not performing well on the older gen consoles. However, two years later,Cyberpunk 2077has seen a huge resurgence, with the Steam player count record for the game being broken consistently following the release of update 1.6. CD Projekt Red’s consistent improvements to the game have brought a lot of players back and attracted new ones, but that isn’t the only reason people are venturing through Night City again.

The release of thewidely successful anime adaptationCyberpunk: Edgerunnersis another reason whyCyberpunk 2077has proven to be so popular as of late. Featuring a spin-off canon story,Cyberpunk: Edgerunnersdoesn’t include V or most of the roster that fans would know fromCyberpunk 2077, instead developing its own cast of characters that many quickly grew to love.

One of themost popular characters fromCyberpunk: Edgerunnersis Lucy, whose real name is Lucyna Kushinada. Now, thanks to modder onesieninja over on the Nexus, players can continue Lucy’s story following the end of the anime. While the Lucy’s Beginning Custom Start mod requires a few other mods to load and needs players to pick the Nomad and female options when making their character, for those who want to imagine where her story goes, it may be worth it to experience onesieninja’s headcanon of how the netrunner fits intoCyberpunk 2077.

In her own custom beginning, Lucy returns to Night City in theCyberpunk 2077mod and joins a Nomad clan. There, she assumes the pseudonym of V and meets Jackie Welles. While the mod might cause some confusion considering how it messes with the timeline of the anime and game, the main attraction here is being able to play as one ofEdgerunners’most popular characters. Also, the build given to the player in the Lucy’s Beginning mod appears to be incredibly strong, starting at level 20 with 38 perks and a full netrunning outfit.

Alongside her outfit and abilities, onesieninja’s mod also gives players access toLucy’s pistol fromCyberpunk: Egderunners, something that has already been introduced toCyberpunk 2077in a prior mod. Officially, CD Projekt Red has added another character’s weapon fromCyberpunk: Edgerunnersin the form of Rebecca’s shotgun, but with the success of the anime, many are hoping more pieces of gear and references will make their way into the game soon.

Cyberpunk 2077is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
