For any horror fans who have yet to check out The Farm 51’sChernobylite, it is recommended to give it a try. With its story arc taking the player to the Exclusion Zone where the Chernobyl disaster occurred in 1986, not to mention its glorious visuals, it’s one of themost interesting nuclear apocalyptic video gameson the scene. Alongside that, the studio has been working towards bringing it to current gen systems, and now a new update makes it available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, as well as improving the visuals on the PC in an Enhanced Edition.

In a recent update on the game’s Steam page, the latest patch forChernobylitebrings some additional changes and new features. The most notable of these is the implementation of ray tracing and tessellation on the PC, making the already impressive graphics look even better. As well as this, there’s the addition of a new weapon, a tactical crossbow. There’s also some paid DLC for anyone who’s interested, such as a Blue Flames Pack, which adds a blue glow around the player’s base to give it a “gloomy” look.

Console owners may also be excited to see that the game is now out on new systems. A while back, the developer had said thatChernobylitewould be coming to PS5 and Xbox Series, and now that day has finally arrived. According to a recent tweet from the game’s official Twitter page, the upgrade to current gen is free, presumably for anyone who already has a copy on PS4 or Xbox One. There’s also a new trailer that’s been released, which shows the “next gen” version of the horror title.

On top of that, the post on Steam encourages players to purchase the newChernobyliteUkraine charity DLC. This small additional extra comes with four wallpapers of varying resolutions, two posters that can be printed, and a thank-you card from the studio. All proceeds from this purchase go towards the Pure Heart Foundation, which is engaging in humanitarian efforts to help those affected by the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Aside from thedelayedSTALKER 2which is now coming out in December, there are very few games that focus on the Chernobyl accident from three and a half decades ago, which has gone down as one of the most infamous nuclear disasters of all time. From a visual standpoint alone,Chernobyliteis definitely worth checking out, especially now that it’s on more consoles and the Enhanced Edition improves the PC port.

Chernobyliteis available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
