Summary
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3players are reporting the daily challenge system, which includes easy to complete objectives like getting 7 battle rifle kills, is not tracking correctly and preventing anything from getting done. It hasn’t been the smoothest launch for the popular franchise asModern Warfare 3’s campaign launched early to a lot of criticismfrom critics and fans alike. For one, the campaign felt shorter than usual, while also reusing assets from Warzone and featured open-ended missions that dragged down the overall experience away from its more guided and action-heavy roots.
Campaign aside, there have also been plenty of technical problems getting in the way for players as well. During the Early Access launch,Modern Warfare 3players noted that Game Sharing just didn’t functionfor both Xbox and PlayStation consoles. On top of that, many PS5 players were seeing an error message asking the player to insert theModern Warfare 2disk in order to play the new game. Thankfully, Sledgehammer moved quickly on this issue with an update, but a new problem is leaving Modern Warfare 3 players frustrated with their overall experience once more.

Reports have started to surface that the daily challenges inModern Warfare 3are no longer tracking player progress. New threads have started to pop up all over the game’s subReddit including one from SHRED-209 who noted that any campaign and zombie progress has completely broken for them, while others sometimes track as expected. What’s frustrating outside of not getting the expected XP from completing these objectives is thatModern Warfare 3ties completion of these challenges to the Armory Unlock system that awards gear, weapons, and other perks. Many followed up with similar stories as frustration continues to grow from the community who can’t actually progress or earn any of the rewards as expected.
One user highlighted that this isn’t actually new to the franchise asCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2also experienced its own daily challenge glitchas well, with many simply failing to track correctly or not giving out the bonus XP upon completion. While Infinity Ward was able to issue an update for it, players noted that it took around 4 seasons to correct and that the issue can still crop up at times. While the tracking issue isn’t consistent for all players, some have found that completely restarting the game sometimes fixed the tracking bug, while others took a more drastic route by uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Either way, players are hopeful an official update can correct the behavior sooner than later.
With so many issues popping up following the game’s launch, there has been plenty of talk aboutModern Warfare 3being potentially rushed. This week, a report surfaced that Activision delayed anAdvanced Warfaresequel and transformed a smallerModern Warfarespinoff into a full game to fill the gap. Sledgehammer Studio Head Aaron Halon responded to the report and denied large portions of it, stating that the company “worked hard to deliver on this vision which has been years in the making.”
