Borderlandsfans are eagerly waiting for the upcoming movie based on the game, that was announced in 2015. Although not much is known about the production, the series offers a lot of potential characters to be added to the movie. So far, only seven actors and actresses have been cast, but even if fans can’t see their favorite personality on the list, chances are, that they’ll be added shortly.
A lot of main characters have been confirmed to be added to the film, but still, a few pillars in the game are still unannounced, like Mordecai, Brick, Amara, Zer0, and Zane. Players can’t know for sure who will be cast to join the movie, but so far, it’s turning out to be an all-star cast, including Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, Kevin Hart, and many others.

12Gina Gershon
One character manyBorderlandsfans would have hoped would make the cut was Pandora’s very own sultry barkeep, Mad Moxxi, who is set to be played by actress Gina Gershon. Gershon’s most notable roles would be in her early career, stealing the show in the cult classicShowgirls. Though more modern audiences will find her familiar from her TV appearances in shows likeBrooklyn Nine-Nineas corrupt task force leader Melanie Hawkins, or Gladys Jones, the mother of Jughead in CW’sRiverdaleseries.
In what may beone of several interesting facts about the character, Mad Moxxi actually wasn’t in the first mainline game despite her popularity. She was introduced in a piece of DLC for the first game,Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot, which saw her as the game host for slaughter round survival game mode. Since then, she’s continued to increase her popularity thanks to her alluring design, charm, and continued appearances and links to characters within the franchise. She’s a fan-favorite character, and the casting seems like a great fit.

Lilith
Australia has been generous to Hollywood, producing some fabulous actors like Margot Robbie, Hugh Jackman, Simon Baker, and many more. One of the most famous Australian actresses, the fabulous and talented Cate Blanchett will be taking on the roleof the fan-favorite siren, Lilith.
As a woman blessed with unbelievable power, this is the perfect role for Blanchett. First a playable character, Lilith became a story character in later games. This meant deepening her story, and fans were not disappointed. In fact, she became one of the most popular characters in the games. To perfectly embody this fierce character, Blanchett must become a headstrong, powerful leader, and there’s no doubt that she’ll crush the role and make it her own.
10Benjamin Byron Davis
Marcus
An actor who is no stranger to the world of video games is Benjamin Byron Davis, having starred in bit parts in a variety of series, including some smaller roles in Marvel StudiosAnt-Man and the Wasp&Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. His most well-known role to many would be his portrayal as the Western gang leader Dutch van der Linde, in Rockstar’s hugely successfulRed Dead Redemptionseries.
Marcus is a tough, no morals, but full-profit kind of guy. As his trademark “No refunds” policy stands. The character is usually depicted as the narrator for the journey, but from what is known about the film at the time, it seems unlikely that any exposition will be given to the character, though there’s no guarantee he won’t be driving a bus full of vault-hunters at some point.
9Jack Black
Claptrap
Beloved actor, musician, and comedian, the ever-so-colorful Jack Black is also a cast member in the upcomingBorderlandsmovie. Playing none other, than CL4P-TP general-purpose robot, Claptrap. Jack Black is a household name, and a family favorite because of his fun-loving humorous nature.
His character, Claptrap has the most snarky and humorous quotes in the game, and this witty character is perfect for comedian Jack Black. Voicing everyone’s favorite panda Po, Black is no stranger when it comes to voice-acting, and he’ll definitely be the perfect match forfan-favoriteClaptrap.
8Charles Babalola
Hammerlock
A character that likely wasn’t expected to be included in the film, but will still please fans, is the aristocratic hunter Sir Alistair Hammerlock. In the film, the relatively fresh Charles Babalola is lined up to play the hunter. He’s featured in several episodes of TV series, but his most notable work is playing the character Tusk inBlack Mirrorand starring as Malaki in the ensemble crime/comedyThe Outlaws.
Sir Hammerlock was introduced at the very start ofBorderlands 2. He’s best known for his futuristic Victorian style, low tolerance for Claptrap’s existence, and his role as a game hunter/explorer of Pandora. Fans of the game will also be aware of his relationship with Wainwright Jakobs, an heir to the Jakobs corporation inBorderlands 3.
7Florian Munteanu
Krieg
Krieg the Psycho is aplayable characterin the games, and he is able to turn into a psychotic killer. He’s a high-risk, high-reward character, and he’s going to be portrayed byFlorian Munteanu, a Romanian heavyweight boxer.
Munteanu was a fitness model next to his boxing career, and apart from the 2018Creed 2movie, hasn’t been involved in cinema. Until now, he’s been cast inBorderlandsto portray the behemoth, Krieg. Although physically he’s the perfect candidate, fans are curious to see his acting skills come through to really bring this character to life.
6Kevin Hart
Roland
Another Hollywood favorite, Kevin Hart will be joining theBorderlandscast embodying the soldier, Roland. He’s a major character in the games, as a hardened veteran soldier. Although Hart is mostly known for his comedic personality, he’ll hopefully embody the gravitas of such a character.
Kevin Hart has very few, in fact, no deep, serious dramatic roles. But considering his amazing work ethic and commitment, if he were to put his humor aside and tap into a more dramatic role, he’d be sure to pull it off. For what it’s worth, his presence alone will be welcomed by fans regardless of his performance.
5Jamie Lee Curtis
Tannis
Proving once again, that the producers ofBorderlandsare shooting for the stars when it comes to casting, they introduced “Scream Queen” Jamie Lee Curtis as the cherry on top. She will be portraying Dr Patricia Tannis, a pivotal story character in the games.
Tannis, the scientist and archaeologist plays an essential part in the main goal of the characters and returns in each game. The director of the movie, Eli Roth said, that working with Curtis is one of his lifelong dreams. And her presence will surely be a dream come true for fans as well.
4Ryann Redmond
Ellie
Sister to Scooter, and daughter to Mad Moxxi, Ellie is a tinkering, no-nonsense self-confident woman who knows her self-worth and is a total badass. Both Moxxi’s kids are stellar characters in theBorderlandsfranchise, so seeing the pair revealed and cast in the film, is sure to go down a treat for fans of the series.
Picking up the role of Ellie is actress and singer Ryann Redmond. She is perhaps the freshest face in the cast, having starred in the filmA Good Personalongside Florence Pugh and the pandemic-tinged feature High School Zoomsical. Ellie is a delight for players to interact with, so there’s plenty of hope that Redmond encapsulates that spirit, even if the character is only in it for a small portion.
3Steven Boyer
Scooter
“Catch-A-Riiiiide.” Ask anyBorderlandsfan about Scooter, and they’ll likely shout out that phrase, before backing up to tell you how great his character is. So it’s a great feeling knowing the character will also be featured in the film, especially with how many fans wanted him brought back forTiny Tina’s Wonderlands, following his sacrifice in TellTalesTales From The Borderlandsseries.
Actor Steven Boyer has been tasked with bringing the character to life on the big screen. He’s starred in a fair few shows as guest characters, but his most well-known performance comes from the seriesTrial & Error,in which he plays former police officer Dwayne Reed. Scooter is a lovable character filled with energy, optimism, and charisma, so here’s hoping that Boyer can capture that same feeling in his performance.
