Summary
As far as CRPGs go,Baldur’s Gate 3launched in a smooth state, especially when compared to games likeSkyrimorCyperpunk 2077. That does not mean it was technically flawless from the start, however. There is always room for improvement and developer Larian Studios has been working hard to make this incredible RPG shine brighter and brighter with each patch.
Patch 3, released on June 24, 2025, brings with it a bevy of improvements in all corners of the package. As long as someone saved often and kept plenty of prior saves ready, it was pretty hard to permanently block oneself from progressing. With this new patch, it is even harder to do so.

8Magic Mirror
Before this patch, there was no way to change the player character’s basic appearance. Armor and weapons would change the look up but hair, scars, face, and other related features were set in stone from the introduction. The magic mirror changes all this.
The mirror can be found in any camp throughout the journey and simply brings the player back to the character customization screen. It is not limitless, however. Players cannot change their race or backstory, for instance. It makes sense since these play heavily into the dialogue.

7The PS5 Controller Light Changes
Consoles are often seen as an afterthought in this genre. Larian fortunately put a lot of effort into making sureBaldur’s Gate 3’s console experience was up to the same standard as the PC. It even went so far as to delay the Xbox version because of issues with the multiplayer functionality.
The developer is also still keeping consoles in mind with updates, as seen by this patch. The PS5 controllerlight now changes to a color more appropriate for the elemental damage being delivered. Maybe most people are looking at their screens and not the controller, but seeing it in the peripheral still adds to the immersion.

6Improved Performance
Considering the number of characters potentially on screen at any one time,Baldur’s Gate 3does a good job at keeping up in terms of frame rate. Certain moments do take a toll on the performance, however. Once players reach the titular city of Baldur’s Gate in Act 3 the game really puts the respective hardware to the test.
Larian knows this, though, and is seeking to relieve this issue little by little with each patch. The Lower City was always a problem in this regard and the patch specifically points out improvements to performance in this area.

5Better Camera And Improvements To Cinematics
Some of the funniest bugs in anystory-drive RPGcome from goofy camera angles during dialogue. While they add a bit of viral fun to a video game, nothing takes the player out of an emotionally charged scene faster than a character delivering a heartwrenching line of dialogue while the camera is pointed at their feet.
The camera is not the only aspect of cinematics that received touch-ups. The patch notes also include general improvements across the board to “mocap, staging, and facial expressions.”

4Poltergeists Are Easier To Fight
Invisible enemies are a bane to many players. Without a general idea of where they are and a solid area-of-effect attack, they can cause major damage before the party is able to land a hit. The poltergeists in Lady Jannath’s house were particularly troublesome because they would return to an invisibility state even if the player had ways of preventing other types of enemies from doing the same.
This patch alleviates much of the difficulty in fighting them. They actually lose their invisibility after receiving damage, and will not turn invisible again if the player has the See Invisibility spell on.

3Fixed Various Crash States
The variables throughout the story are too varied to list here. With this many possibilities also come numerous chances for the game to crash or block progress. Players should keep plenty of recent save states to prevent losing too much progress, but the developer is constantly working to ensure this does not happen in the first place.
There were issues with crashing during certain parts of the story but also when engaging with thesplit-screen mode on PS5. According to the patch notes, this should bother gamers no longer.

2More Spells Break Sanctuary
As a player, Sanctuary is a great way to ensure a support-based class does not get annihilated right away. Enemies cannot attack someone affected by this spell as long the one with Sanctuary does not attack other players. There were some attack spells that would not end the Sanctuary condition, and the new patch fixes this.
In total, 13 spells are listed in the notes as finally properly breaking Sanctuary when cast. This is great news for true role players, but bad news for those who discovered this exploit and used it as a crutch during combat.

1Mac Support
Those who don’t play on PC often forget that Mac is a different beast altogether. Larian did not forget this and as of June 06, 2025, thetitle is fully functional on the platform. There is one recommendation Larian gives to Mac users in the patch notes.
Any prior save files and installs should be deleted and the game should be reinstalled. This refers to any progress made during the early access stage of the game from 2020. Since these saves are useless in the final release, there is little point in keeping them around anyway.
