Reddit user CannibalMommyy found this out the hard way while exploringBaldur’s Gate 3’s game world. While traveling withBaldur’s Gate 3companionsShadowheart, Astarion, Lae’zal, CannibalMommyy’s custom character Ophelia came across a broken bridge. Wanting to get across the gap, Ophelia attempts to jump, but instead of just jumping across, she turns around, scales a nearby cliff wall, and then leaps from the top of it, suffering 24 damage and rendering herself prone in the process.

One commenter pointed out that the game warned CannibalMommyy that they were going to take damage before they attempted the jump, but they admitted that they “clicked too fast.” It’s safe to say that most players would have found themselves in the exact same predicament, as there would be no reason to assume that the jump wouldn’t be safe, let alone that the character would turn around, climb to the top of a cliff, and attempt the stunt from such a ridiculous height.

Others pointed out that there are quicker ways to initiate a jump inBaldur’s Gate 3. While players can certainly pull up theAction wheelswhenever they want to jump, it’s also possible to simply press up on the d-pad.

Regardless, it’s always a good idea to be extra careful whenever attempting jumps inBaldur’s Gate 3to avoid unexpected situations like this. If players do ever hurt themselves on accident while exploringBaldur’s Gate 3, the good news is that there are many ways to heal one’s character, whether that be through potions, spells, orresting at camp.
