Mobius Digital’s space-exploring indie gameOuter Wildshas been lauded by critics across the industry since releasing in 2019, evenwinning BAFTAs for Best Game of the year, Best Game Design, and Best Original Property. However, it’s not just game critics praisingOuter Wilds. Award-winning actress Mia Farrow announced her love for the game on Twitter yesterday, insisting people “have to try” it.

Farrow is perhaps still best known for her performance as Rosemary Woodhouse inRoman Polanski’s iconic 1968 horror filmRosemary’s Baby, but her acting credits stretch into the 2010s with other prominent roles like Daisy Buchanan in the 1974 adaptation ofThe Great Gatsby, according to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb). The actress has also worked with activist groups like The Enough Movement, which cites her as taking part in events like a 12-day hunger strike for Darfur and a “Raise Hope for Congo” campaign.

Much of Farrow’s Twitter feed reflects a focus on social justice issues and commentary on the current political climate in America. Because of that, it is somewhat surprising to see her take a step back this Sunday to instead chat aboutOuter Wilds, which she said is “beautiful & thoughtful,” and even the “best video game.” Then again, it is also cool to get a glimpse into some of her recreational interests.

Farrow is also not the only celebrity that has used their social media platforms to talk about video games. For example, actress Brie Larson recently started her own YouTube channel, came onto theAnimal Crossing: New Horizonstalk showAnimal Talking, andpraised games likeBreath of the Wildon the YouTube showHot Ones.

In fact, film stars are not the people of some celebrity acclaim who have talked about video games as a preferred pastime. Many WWE wrestlers have incorporated video games and such into their identities, such as Zelina Vega dressing as characters like D.Va fromOverwatchand Nessa fromPokemon SwordandShield. However, a recent mandate could force theseWWE stars to shut down their Twitch and YouTube accounts.

Some of the best video games have a way of connecting with people all across different spectrums of life, be it socioeconomic or cultural divides. TheLegend of Zelda-inspiredOuter Wildshas clearly struck a chord with many for its deep exploration and time-looping mechanics, and it’s interesting to see that love extend to even acclaimed actresses like Mia Farrow.

Outer Wildsis available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
