Nintendo has released patch 2.0.3 forAnimal Crossing: New Horizons. The patch was released on November 23rd and addresses two issues in theAnimal Crossing: New HorizonsHappy Home ParadiseDLC.
The first resolves an issue where players could duplicate items following a specific method. The second corrects a problem with the same character appearing twice on the islandwhere Paradise Planning is located.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 2.0.3 Patch Notes
This is the 3rd update since the release of theHappy Home ParadiseDLC and the 4th overall update in November.The update will be installed automatically in most cases. But, to double-check, players can go into the System Settings on their Switch, select Data Management, then Manage Software, and finally selectAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsto see the version listed. This patch is version 2.0.3.
The exploit in question can still be used so long as players don’t install the latest update. As it stands, there isn’t much reason to install the update as there is no new content and nothing game-breaking that has been resolved. The bug in question could be used by accessing the Room Sketch app that can be installedon the player’s NookPhone. Once the app is open, place items on the wall where windows are supposed to be and then enable windows for the room. This “tricks” the game into thinking the items have actually been placed on the wall and not just in the app. This will then return said items to the player once windows are enabled, effectively duplicating them.
It seemed unusual for Nintendo to release another patch so quickly, but considering what it fixes, it is understandable why it would rush the update out. Something like this could throw an island’s economy way out of line. While there wouldn’t be an impact on other players if one or more decided to exploit it, it does go against the very nature of the game. Nintendo isn’t alone in cracking down swiftly on exploits like this. After all, it could hurt the long-term viability of the game if players were suddenly out of debt to the resident tanooki-in-charge, Tom Nook. This is something that partially led to the initial player decline before patch 2.0 and theHappy Homes ParadiseDLChit, reinvigorating player interest inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons.Good or bad, the update is now live and available for download.
