Summary
AnAnimal Crossingfan has shared their adorable recreation of the game’s Squeakoids, and players are charmed and impressed. The small figurines celebrate one of the newest kinds of Gyroids to join theAnimal Crossingfranchise.
Animal Crossinghas had Gyroidsfor as long as the series has been running. Gyroids are furniture items that can be dug up in the game under certain circumstances. Prior toAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, there were over 100 designs that could be collected, but there were only 36 inNew Horizons. Gyroids have a bit of a creepy quality to them, but many fans love the strange objects, especially since they respond to music in-game and dance or make sounds to the rhythm of the tune playing. Squeakoids were introduced inNew Horizons, and as the name implies, make a silly squeaking noise when interacted with or in reaction to music.

Reddit user CorinnesCranny has shared their recreation of aSqueakoid, and it’s quite adorable. Their version is based on the white/colorful version of Squeakoids, is palm-sized, and can sit upright on its own. CorinnesCranny says that they keep theirs near their PC, where it “watches over them” as they play games. The Squeakoids are made out of polymer clay that the artist then paints and coats in resin to give it a shiny look and increase its durability. This is the latest version of the Squeakoid, as the same artist previously shared tiny versions of them that could be affixed to keychains.
Across both posts, fans have been enthusiastic about the cute recreations and wondered if they were available for sale. The artist does have an Etsy page where they sell these items. While Squeakoids or Gyroids in general may not be the first thing to come to mind for every player thinking aboutAnimal Crossing, they’re well-loved by many, and a lot of players put tremendous effort into collectingevery single Gyroidform.

Squeakoids are Creepy Turned Cute
Gyroids strike some players as inherently charming, while some are a little disturbed by them. Although Squeakoids are pretty far separated from the original designs, Gyroids in general are based uponfunerary tokens that were buried in the ancient past in Japanin or near graves. It’s a bit disturbing to think about the connotations of digging them up out of the ground, especially in such an otherwise cheery game. Regardless of their origins, though, most players find Gyroids to be silly little things, and the addition of Squeakoids inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons'2.0 content update only further cemented this perception.
