Some of the most relevant names displayed were xQc, Moist, and Toast, with Amouranth holding up folders of the latter two and stating “I’m coming for you.” SomeeSports fans will recognize Moistas the team owned by Charles White Jr. aka MoistCr1TiKaL, and Toast as the team in partnership with Jeremy Wang, aka Disguised Toast.
Having popular streamers purchase and represent eSports teams provides a new way to generate interest in these types of events. Although eSports draws in plenty of viewers already, the branding and influence behind specificstreamers like Amouranth, MoistCr1TiKal, and Toast, can not only draw in people who know less about teams in particular, it can build narratives around each team that may be easier for newcomers to understand. Amouranth’s move as a full owner of WildCard eSports could be perceived as an indicator of changes within the structure of the scene.
