Yaoling: Mythical Journeywill task players with many objectives to accomplish. They will need to seek out all the best Yaoling Keepers and best them in battle, they will need to find numerous villagers scattered across the game’s map, and they will need to defeat all of the game’s demon lords.

Before doing any of this, they will be able to interact with many NPCs in the starting village, but scattered around this village are plenty of useful items — including some hidden chests with the best of these items.

After you havechosen your starter Yaolingand fought your first battle, you will gain control of your character. You can move them down to cross a bridge. The moment you cross this bridge, you will be close to two of the hidden chests. You can use the Minimaps in each of the pictures below to help guide you.

The First Hidden Chest - Amber Teardrop

Head to your left and you will see a large building. Move behind this building to increase its transparency, and you will see the chest hidden behind it. Inside this chest will be an Amber Teardrop. This is a truly astonishing item, but one you should definitely hang on to for late in the game when you are grooming your final team of Yaolings. It will let you select a talent from a Yaoling, and allow it to forget that talent.

The Second Hidden Chest - Divine Seal

Head southwest and you will pass two more houses, before coming to a very large one. Heat through the front entrance of this large building and directly ahead of the entrance will be a chest. This chest houses a Divine Seal. Seals are what you will use to capture Yaolings, and a Divine seal can catch any of them without fail. It’sbasically a Master Ball in Pokémon terms. You will be able to craft more of these later in the game.

Will guarantee to seal the targeted opponent.

The Third Hidden Chest - Talent Jade #1

Leave the large building and follow the road down to the exit of the village. Head right and you will see a small fenced-off field. You can pick up various items in this field, and then head down to a break in the fence with a chest on the other side. This chest contains some Talent Jade. Talent Jade will let you teach the specified talent to a Yaoling. It is best to keep these for once you are much more familiar with the game and how combat works.

The Forth Hidden Chest - Talent Jade #2

Leave the field and head west. You will easily spot the chest, but not the route to get to it. You will also see an old man in blue clothing. Stand under this old man and then head down. You will find a hole in the fence below. This will put you on the path to the final chest, and another Talent Jade. A lot of games in themonster tamer subgenre feature mechanicssuch as talents, and they will play a big part in the end game.
