Twitchstreamer Adin Ross has now become the target of swatting for the second time this year, informing viewers during a recent live stream that his home had been surrounded by police. This latest incident comes just months after Ross wasswatted live on Twitchin August, leaving his fans to watch as armed police officers searched the streamer’s home.
Adin Ross came to prominence on Twitch streaming games from theNBA 2Kseries, gaining a large following after starting the Twitter hashtag #make2kfunagain in response to negative fan reactions toNBA2k21. Ross’ often brash nature during livestreams has made him a controversial figure on Twitch, with his use of a homophobic slur on another creator’s stream leading to a temporary ban and backlash from many viewers earlier this year. In addition to being swatted, Ross was also the target of a physical attack in early November. Video posted on Twitter shows the momentAdin Ross’ security knocks out an attackerwho attempted to rush the streamer.

In a clip shared from his most recentTwitchlivestream, titled “adin swatted,” Ross is seen on his knees with his hands behind his head while streaming from his apartment with several friends. Expressing a mixture of frustration and amusement at the situation, Ross remarks that he wants to make a call but is worried about moving his hands. Eventually placing a call on speakerphone, Ross is told by the person on the other end that they are explaining the situation to the LAPD.

Ross’ feed was cut off by Twitch during the incident, with the content creator later remarking on Twitter that he had received a ban following the stream. Neither Adin Ross nor Twitch have provided further information about the reason for the ban, but bans haven’t managed to slow down the controversial streamer in the past. Despite being temporarily barred from the platform for using “Hateful Slurs or Symbols” earlier this year,Adin Ross had a jump in viewers after his Twitch ban was overturnedin June.
Game streaming platforms like Twitch have become a valuable resource for gamers looking to keep up with the latest releases and the influencers who play them, but also a potential source of harm to their most popular personas. This was put on stark display when YouTubestreamer IShowSpeed was arrestedearlier this year after being the target of swatting. While streamers like Adin Ross may sometimes be crude or controversial, putting lives on the line over a livestream is a game that no one should play.
