The movie is about a guy named Billy Madison who must complete all 12 grades of school to take over his father’s company. Billy is introduced as a snotty spoiled brat, but throughout the movie he displays his true character, helping kids he meets along his journey and helping them overcome obstacles in their way. Sandler is a comedian known for a specific type of humor, and for those it clicks with, Billy Madison is a no-brainer of a watch on Hulu.
7Tommy Boy
Having a list ofwholesome 90s movieswouldn’t feel right without the inclusion of the late Chris Farley. The late comedian starred in two beloved 90s comedies alongside David Spade, those beingBlack SheepandTommy Boy. The latter is the more popular and referenced of the two.

Tommy Boyis about a guy who simply wants to run the company his late father worked so hard to put on the map. This buddy comedy has Farley and Spade take on a cross-country road trip where the two get into numerous situations ripe with comedy.
6The Flintstones
The idea of a live-action movie based onThe Flintstonesstarring Rosie O’Donnell and John Goodman sounds like a direct-to-DVD release. Upon its theatrical release it did not score well with critics, but audiences on the other hand enjoyed it.
It’s a family movie that explores the whacky reality of the real-life implications of what the cartoon suggests the life of the Flintstones was like on a daily basis. Other members of the cast includeCatwoman’s Halle Berry and Rick Moranis, most known for his roles inSpaceballsand theHoney, I Shrunk the Kidsfranchise.

5Hook
The late comedian Robin Williams had dozens of movie roles that most audiences consider iconic, butHooklands near the top despite it being a box office disappointment.Directed by Steven Spielberg, Hook is a retelling of the classic Peter Pan tale wherein the spunky boy is now an older man working as a lawyer in the real world.
Audiences fell in love with both the heart of the performances and the variety of characters that felt authentic to the story that was being told. Add in a score by John Williams andHookis a family film that has withstood the test of time and is a must-watch Robin Williams classic.

4Muppets From Space
When looking for wholesome movies it’s always a safe bet to look for somethingstarring the beloved Muppets. In 1999 theMuppetsfranchise decided to try its hand at science fiction by way of a comedy feature-length movie calledMuppets from Space. Gonzo drives the story as the main character as he’s focused on trying to figure out what he is exactly and because of this he is focused on contacting aliens in hopes of getting answers.
On the surface, the movie functions as a source of entertainment for children, but it is a story about personal identity and wanting to feel like a part of a greater community, something humans of all ages struggle with to some extent.

3Matilda
Most kids bornin the late 80sand early 90s likely remember the movieMatildaquite fondly. It stars Mara Wilson as the titular character, a gifted young girl who can move things with her mind. With these powers, she’s able to navigate a life in which she’s surrounded by some questionable adults.

Danny DeVito plays the role of her father, but as most people don’t realize, he also served as the director of the project.Matildais based on a book of the same name by author Roald Dahl, known for other books such asJames and the Giant PeachandCharlie and the Chocolate Factory.
2The Little Rascals
The Little Rascals, released in 1994, follows the adventures of young adolescent boys as they try and rebuild their clubhouse. Beloved for its unique cast of characters, it mainly focuses on two boys named Spanky and Alfalfa. The first is the leader of his boys-only club and is worried that his best friend Alfalfa is choosing a girl over their friendship. Alfalfa on the other hand is simply a young boy who’s developed a crush on a girl named Darla.
Chaos ensues as each boy and their group of friends tries to do what they believe to be the right thing. It’s hard to find a movie on Hulu as wholesome as this one.

1The Sandlot
Regarded by many as possibly the best sports movie of all time, 1993’sThe Sandlotfocuses on a local group of kids coming-of-agein the 1960s. At the core of it all is a love of baseball that connects kids with different personalities and backgrounds. It’s full of quotes that have been repeated decades after the movie’s original release.
James Earl Jones stars as the owner of a large dog who happens to patrol a yard close to where the kids play their pickup baseball games. The climax of the story revolves around a valuable baseball landing in the yard and the kids forming a plan to get it back while avoiding the terrifying legendary dog that sits behind the fence.
