8Condemned: Criminal Origins
WhileCondemned: Criminal Originsis definitely a great game in its own right, the horror of this game isn’t even the best part of the title. Rather, it’s the emphasis on an excellent combat system that keeps things fresh at every step of the way.
Taking on the role of Ethan Thomas, players navigate the seedy underbelly of the city of Metro as they fight a large number of psychotics that are hell-bent on stopping Ethan for reasons that are unknown.
It’s a shame that Visceral Studios has gone defunct since the developer was known for publishing one of the greatest sci-fi horror titles of all time —Dead Space.
The idea of roaming around a desolate space station and dealing with the horrific necromorphs that lie within is anything but alluring. And yet, the brilliant atmosphere ofDead Spacecoupled with an excellent plot will keep fans hooked to their screens until the story of Isaac Clarke finally reaches a rather jarring climax.
6Outlast
Upon release,Outlastquickly became one of the most popular horror titles around, with the sheer amount of content from this game floating around being nothing short of remarkable.

Little Nightmaresis a brilliant title that players should try out if they’re a fan of atmospheric horror platformers. While the game might not be all that long, this title leaves such a strong impression that the campaign’s short length isn’t a huge issue.
Controlling Six asshe deals with the horrors that plague a child’s nightmaresis an unforgettable experience. Most fans would probably jump at the chance to play the sequel right after they’re done with this brilliant title.
3Pathologic
With the release ofPathologic 2and the boundless potential that it showed, it’s a boon that more and more fans are finally playing the first game in the series.Pathologicis easily one of the oddest yet brilliant games ever made.
Pathologicis quite hard to explain — while the player does take on the role of several people in the middle of a deadly plague, the actual plot runs so much thicker and deeper than that. It’s a game that needs to be played firsthand to be experienced properly since mere explanations won’t do it justice.

It’s a shame that Kojima was booted out of Konami before his idea forSilent Hillscould become a reality. After all, ifP.T.was anything to go by, thenSilent Hillscould’ve been one of the greatest horror titles of all time.
